A brief overview of a few of the Instagram scheduling apps that are available and how they can help you with your Instagram marketing strategy.
As freelancers or small business owners, we all know that Instagram is one of the fastest-growing mobile social networks and a key tool in our marketing strategies. But the process of editing photos, creating images, e-mailing them to yourself and then typing captions on your iPhone can sometimes be insane. Plus you have to remember to publish at specific times of the day so you can optimize your engagement.
Doing it the old way, I didn’t get very far with my Instagram strategy.
Finally, I discovered Later and it made a huge difference in my Instagram strategy and also my overall outreach and engagement.
But not everyone has discovered Instagram scheduling apps and some folks are still doing it the old fashioned way. I was viewing a webinar the other day and people kept asking how to schedule their posts better.
That’s why I wanted to post a brief overview of a few of the Instagram scheduling apps that are available and how they can help you with your Instagram marketing strategy.
Later Instagram Scheduling
For the most part, I use Later for my Instagram scheduling. Later helps you plan, manage and schedule your visual social media posts and marketing campaigns. Later helps you manage content and schedule for your Instagram accounts.
You can upload images from your computer, collaborate on your posts, manage one or multiple Instagram accounts and manage accounts with your team. A free plan provides you with 30 posts per month (the number of created posts), two social profiles and one user.
Planoly Instagram Scheduling
Drag and drop your photos to see how it’ll actually look on your Instagram profile feed before scheduling it to post with Planoly ─ an app that allows you to visually plan and schedule for Instagram.
With Planoly, you can play with the layout just like a magazine editor. You can use either the web dashboard, or the mobile app to plan and schedule. You can also view your analytics and reply to comments as well through the same platform.
My favourite function of this app is the image splitter feature. It allows you to create visually compelling campaigns effectively and creatively with ONE image by splitting it up. Planoly is thoughtfully designed from a designer’s and editor’s point of view. You can sign up for a 14-day free trial.
HootSuite Social Media Management
I was super excited to see that HootSuite now offers Instagram scheduling as well. Now we can schedule our Instagram posts at the same time we’re planning content for our social channels like Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and LinkedIn.
Now that Instagram is integrated within the Hootsuite platform, you can manage, schedule and monitor your Instagram activity. You can also comment and search as well. Schedule a month’s worth of Throwback Thursday posts in advance, for example, and publish them in just a few taps when the time comes.
You can also set up streams to monitor your own Instagram posts, your scheduled posts, specific users or hashtags and even locations ─ all from the same Hootsuite dashboard you use to manage your other social networks.
No Instagram scheduling app will automatically post on Instagram for you.
It is important to note that none of these apps ─ in fact no Instagram scheduling app ─ will automatically post on Instagram for you. Instagram requires posts to be published through its mobile app only.
Meaning, you can schedule each post for the day and time you want it to go out, make sure they look good, write the captions, include hashtags and all that fun stuff right from your web browser ─ but the apps won’t actually publish them for you. You still have to go back into the Instagram mobile app on your phone to hit publish.
Despite this – Instagram scheduling apps are a life-saver ─ especially if you rely heavily on Instagram as part of your businesses’ overall marketing strategy.
